This issue could decide Perry's fate in his run for nomination for the republican ticket, not to mention the presidency. But, I wonder how many clearly do not understand the issue as Texans see it. Texas is almost a country unto themselves and as such, if it becomes so heavenly populated with uneducated illegals, the state, in the future could be in serious trouble in subsidizing them anyway. The idea to offer to those who meet the states requirements is a sincere one on the surface and as a governor, a responsible one at that. In providing the education, you are essentially looking into the future, in that these individuals will be paying their tax obligations. On the surface, for Texas at least, I can see how the decision is reflective of the future needs and requirements of the State. One must remember, of the votes that were cast in the state legislature, only 4 dissented..
